Craig Herron is a filmmaker, artist and teacher who loves the world of visual effects and matte painting. Over the past 30 years he has worked as a teacher, graphic artist, mural painter and display artist. In 1990s Craig formed Herron Designs and began working with digital video and animation. Since then he has done production design, animation, visual effects, matte paintings and compositing for independent features, documentaries, shorts and commercials. His first short movie A Fall From The Clouds, a combination of 3D animation and live action, won Best Animation at the first Red Bull Independents Film Festival, as well as several other awards. His second short Freedom Dance (With Steven Fischer), an animated documentary narrated by Emmy winner Mariska Hargitay, won numerous awards including the 2008 CINE Golden Eagle Masters Series, and Best in Show at the Rosebud Film Festival. Both shorts were selections at the Maryland Film Festival as well as other festivals. Craig has done production design and visual effects on Day of the Gun as well as two other feature films. He has also won the Gold Telly for Kringle 9000, Bronze Telly for Silence of Falling Leaves (dir. Steven Fischer), and Bronze Telly for a script for Essex Co. College (Barbara Herron).
