Jason Brown

Jason Brown has performed as two characters in Wayne Shipley’s films as Cy McCall in Day of the Gun and Webb Stockton in One- Eyed Horse. His main credentials and credits, however, are based in music and musical theater.

Jason’s earned a Van Cliburn scholarship award and Presidential Scholarship award to Baylor University and completed at BA in music.  Two weeks after graduation he was married to Shannon and moved to the DC area. Jason soon met Wayne Shipley, and they have worked on numerous projects together. Jason worked as music director for many plays produced and directed by Shipley and others. In 2005 Jason helped write, produce and perform in Rupelstiltskin’s Daughter at the Chesapeake Arts Center, of which Shipley was the director. Together with writers, Bob Marshall and Timothy Battle, Jason has taken Rumpelstiltskin’s Daughter to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, as well as California and Theatre IV in Richmond, VA. While in Scotland, Jason was hired by Rain Pryor as music director and pianist for her award winning show, Fried Chicken and Latkes, and traveled with the show until 2008. Jason had the privilege of performing with the award winning combination of Marvin Hamlisch and Karma Camp at the Gala for the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center with the NSO. The traveling aspect of directing and accompanying had to slow down by 2007; Jason was a father of three.  Jason is now the music director of the First Baptist Church of Upper Marlboro and spends less time on the road and much more time writing, arranging, directing and performing locally in the DC area.
